What’s happened

Eight years of hard work. Hundreds of playlists. Almost 600,000 subscribers. Despite all of this, an automated decision from YouTube has taken away our video monetisation and left us without our main source of income. Their new policy to demonetise videos featuring "reused content" (duplicate uploads, such as those that steal videos and post them to their own channel) on their platform is a good idea! However, despite the love and originality we put into our videos, the bot making the decisions has mistakenly targeted our channel, even though we have permission from the artists for every single song we have featured.

We have sent many emails to try to solve the problem, but YouTube has done nothing to help. It has been our passion to provide a platform for independent artists and to share new music playlists for our listeners, but now it’s us who need your help. We’ve done nothing wrong and are devastated & heartbroken by this situation, and we don't want this to be the end for alexrainbirdMusic.

What you can do

For the last few years, it has been our full-time job to find the perfect songs, background photos and themes for our videos (each playlist takes many weeks to make), but we have now been abandoned by YouTube. So if you've ever enjoyed our playlists, or have ever had your music featured on our channel, please consider donating below. Your support is now the ONLY way we can continue to make these videos, and just a couple of dollars, euros or pounds per month - the price of a cup of coffee - would allow us to survive. Everything truly helps.

What this means to us

It has been an absolute blessing to work with so many talented artists and connect with indie fans from across the world. We have travelled, made friends for life and found happiness through our channel. After countless late nights and sacrifices, we have finally become a leading platform for independent music and we are deeply deeply grateful. THANK YOU for changing our lives and with your help, we can keep making playlists for years to come.

Please share and spread the word.

Yours in love and music,

Alex and Beth
